Milos Raonic is a Canadian professional tennis player of Montenegrin origin who currently lives in Monte Carlo, Monaco. He was born in what is now Podgorica, Montenegro but Raonic and his family moved to Canada when he was only three years old. Milos Raonic learned the game of tennis at the Bramelea Tennis Club in Brampton, Ontario. His strong spot appears to be on the hard court and Raonic is said to have one of the most effective serves on the tour. He is currently coached by former Croatian tennis player Ivan Ljubičić.

Junior Tennis career[]

Milos Raonic's first ITF-sanctioned junior tennis event was in the qualifying draw for the Canadian ITF Group 4 Championships in October 2003. He lost in the first round to another Canadian player named Kirill Sinitsyn.

Raonic's first ITF tournament singles match victory was over Tony Dang in October 2005. Dang was beaten in three sets, but Raonic quickly lost against American Christopher Racz.

2008 Boys' French Open Doubles[]

Milos Raonic played with current Canadian professional tennis player Vasek Pospisil in the 2008 Boys' French Open Doubles Tournament, where they lost to Finnish Henri Kotinen and Indonesian Christopher Kungrat. The Finnish/Indonesian duo went on to claim the 2008 Boys' French Open Doubles title.

2008 Boys' Wimbledon Singles[]

Raonic was not a successful player in his junior tennis career and the second round was the farthest he had ever gotten in a boys' singles Grand Slam tournament. He lost to Brazilian Henrique Cunha, 4-6 4-6, in the 2nd round of the 2008 Boys' Wimbledon Singles. Cunha lost to #1 seed and Australian professional tennis player Bernard Tomic in the quarterfinals.

Professional Tennis career[]

2007[]

Raonic was given wild cards into three ITF Futures events that were held in Quebec. He won his first ever singles match in professional play against a Frenchman named Fabrice Martin 7-5 2-6 6-4 at Hull, Quebec. But he lost against former Austrian tennis player Patrick Schmolzer in straight sets in the next round.

In the doubles event, Raonic partnered with fellow Canadian Vasek Pospisil and they lost in the first round. Then again in Rock Forest, Quebec, Raonic lost to former Canadian tennis player and current Tennis Canada coach, Frederoc Niemeyer.
